A sore itchy throat, fatigue and a dry chronic cough. You are often able to self-diagnose bronchitis, but many usually followup with a visit to the doctor. However you may actually leave with something that causes more harm than good. According to Dr.Lauri Hicks with the Centers for Disease Control patients are often leaving with the WRONG treatment.
Dr. Hicks says that while the statistics aren’t as staggering for children receiving the wrong prescriptions, it still happens. She adds that this can significantly impact the effectiveness of antibiotics in the future.
And the problems don’t end there.
She says the best approach is to simply communicate with your doctor. Having an open ended conversation with your physician or your child’s pediatrician will help ensure you receive the best treatment possible.
