You May Be Putting Your Teen Driver at Risk

It’s Teen Driving Awareness Week and officials with AAA are encouraging parents to set good examples for their young drivers.

Kimberly Schwind with AAA. She says the three most common mistakes teens make behind the wheel are: they don’t scan the road enough, they speed and they drive distracted.

And, parents may have something to do with it, especially when it comes to distractions behind the wheel.

Also, nearly half of these drivers reported driving more than 15 mph over the posted speed limit.

Scwhind says it’s really hard for a teen to learn safe driving habits when they’re seeing their parents do just the opposite.
