Local School District Offers ‘Coffee with the Superintendent’

The New Philadelphia City School District is inviting the public to an opportunity to meet with the Superintendent over a cup of coffee.

Monday, January 29th marks the first ‘Coffee with the Superintendent’ event. “We have held large community forums and small discussions in the recent past, but those programs were not as inclusive of an effort to connect with the entire community,” explained Superintendent David Brand.

The public is invited to join Superintendent Brand for a cup of coffee and learn more about everything that’s happening within the school district.

Participants are encouraged to ask questions and share their feedback.

Superintendent Brand added the importance of the district making a real effort to hear from the community they serve.

“We wanted to connect, listen, share and learn with all members of the community,” he said. “All too often this only occurs when schools have new money levies on the ballot. We have developed a Faculty Advisory Council, a Student Advisory Council, these Community Coffees and Business Community Luncheons.”

He suggested that additional ways to connect with residents may be on the way.

Superintendent Brand noted the goal is to share the good news of the district and listen to the ideas and concerns of the community. “In general – I am striving to connect better with the community in many avenues to listen, share and learn in order to make the New Philadelphia City Schools an even better district than it already is,” he explained.

Everyone is invited to participate. And, if the dates or times do not work they are encouraged to reach out to the district to schedule a meeting that better fits their schedule.

Coffee chats will be held the last Monday of each month January through May from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at the Daily Grind Café.

Officials note there is no structured agenda, and guests can come and go as needed during that time.
