Local School District Releases Statement Following Santa Fe High School Shooting

In the district’s regular newsletter officials included a statement following the shooting today, May 18th, at Santa Fe High School.

The following statement was released by the district in its entirety via the community newsletter:

In light of the shooting at Santa Fe High School today, we feel it’s important to review the steps being taken at NCCS for the 2018-2019 school year to protect our students. Superintendent Jeff Wendorf, at the May Board of Education meeting, discussed implementing Alertus, a mass notification system that will include all electronic devices; the School Safe ID System, a visitor management system with background check; use of Marc/s radios, which provide instant access to safety services; window numbers for safety services location improvement; mental health counseling specialists; and School Resource Officers.
