Stark County Child Injured in Hit/Skip Crash

The Stark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after an 8-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle Thursday afternoon.

(Canton, Ohio) – According to investigators, the incident occurred on Thursday, June 14th at approximately 6:35 p.m. in the 1400 block of Spangler Street NE, Canton. Reports indicate a silver 2000 Dodge Caravan with some rust around the rear driver’s side wheel and faded plastic bumpers was seen leaving the scene of the crash. A description of the driver has not been released.

“We are committed to finding the person responsible for injuring this young girl,” explained Sheriff George T. Maier. “We will pursue every lead in an effort to hold the individual accountable.”

As of Friday afternoon, the child was in stable condition.

The Sheriff’s Office released a photo o a similar vehicle to give the public an idea of what it may look like. Officials note the released photo is not of the actual vehicle of interest.
