Dover Public Library to Host Baby & Me Parent & Caregiver Series
(Dover, Ohio) – The Dover Public Library is gearing up to host a parent and caregiver series.
The series is called Baby & Me and begins ctober 15. A series of practical workshops will teach parents and caregivers how to make informed decisions regarding the health and development of their baby. Sponsored by the Tuscarawas County Health Department WIC Program, La Leche League of Tuscarawas County and the Tuscarawas County Breastfeeding Coalition. Program descriptions and dates are as follows:
October 15: Breastfeeding 101
Learn the basics and benefits of breastfeeding to build a strong foundation for mom and baby. Learn about positioning, skin to skin and the skills to know if baby is getting enough.
October 22: Nursing in Public
Learn how to dress for successful breastfeeding and gain confidence to nurse in public as demonstrated by models in a fashion show. Every participant will receive a nursing bra.
October 29: Bringing Baby Home
We will discuss how to avoid problems and overcome common difficulties with confidence and east while navigating the first few weeks with your new baby from hospital to home.
November 5: Make Your Own Baby Food
Learn how to use fresh produce to make homemade baby food that tastes delicious. Taste test fresh vs. store bought. Every participant will receive a food storage tray.
November 12: Babywearing & Cloth Diapering
Learn about various types of babywearing techniques and how to get started with cloth diapering. Door prizes will be awarded.
November 19: Nursing for Working Mos
Learn how to plan for returning to work and pumping, breast milk storage and more.
November 26: Breastfeeding and the Law
Did you know that breastfeeding and pumping in public is protected in Ohio by law? Learn about your rights as a mother. Employers are encouraged to attend to learn how to make the workplace breastfeeding friendly.
