(Dover, Ohio) – The annual Canal Dover Association/city of Dover Christmas parade will take place on December 8th.
Event coordinators note the parade will begin following the downtown lighting ceremony at 5:15 p.m. Dover Mayor, Richard Homrighausen, will read ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ at the square to kick off the ceremony.
Parade lineup will be at Crater Stadium on East Seventh Street and the route will be from East Third Street at the Cross Street intersection to the city square, left on Wooster Avenue heading southbound and will end at Second Street. There, those in the parade will disperse on West Second Street.
Mail carriers will also walk the parade route to collect letters addressed to Santa.
Officials explained that early registration is recommended. Entry forms are located at City Hall, 110 East. Third Street or at the city auditor’s office, 122 East Third Street. Registration is also open the day of the parade at Crater Stadium from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Any entries involving horses must also provide their own clean-up along the parade route.
Additionally, there will be visits with Santa for kids from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the holiday season. Visits will be at the Santa House on the southeast quadrant of the square.
