Canton City School District and Adrian Allison part ways
(Canton, Ohio) – Following multiple board meetings, members move to end Adrian Allison’s tenure as superintendent.
The vote came after a nearly three-hour, closed-door executive session on Saturday afternoon. All five members – Richard Milligan, John Rinaldi, Eric Resnick, Mark Dillard, and Scott Russ – voted to approve the move just days before students return to school from winter break.
A specific reason has not been released, but the decision comes after multiple board executive sessions held to discuss a verbal confrontation between Allison and a student after a McKinley playoff football game back in November.
Board member Richard Milligan issued a brief statement following an executive session on Saturday:
“The Canton City Schools Board of Education is authorizing the president of the board to enter into a tentative transition agreement, pending councel approval, that will lead to the departure of Adrian Allison from the district retroactive to Jan. 4, 2019. The board expresses its thanks to Superintendent Allison for his years of service and wishes him well in the future. The board will have no further comment at this time.”
