Interim Superintendent Issues Message to District

(Canton, Ohio) – An Interim Superintendent is named following the Canton City School Board’s decision to end former Superintendent Adrian Allison’s contract.

Interim Superintendent, Barb Maceyak issued the following message to the Canton City School District:

As your recently appointed interim superintendent, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and tell you how honored and excited I am to be in this new role.

My name is Barbara Maceyak, and to many of you, I am a familiar face.

I have been a part of the CCSD family since 1980 when I began my teaching career at Gibbs Elementary School, followed by Hartford Middle School. I was named principal at Cedar Elementary School in 1995 and was at the helm when the first new building was constructed during the district’s partnership with the Ohio School Facilities Commission. Following nine years at Cedar, I served as principal at Souers Middle School before moving to Mason Elementary.

I joined the senior leadership staff in 2010 to serve as Director of School Improvement and then Director of Student Learning Objectives. For the last five years, I have been the district’s Director of Human Resources.

I share this background with you as my way of saying that I know and love this district. I know your students, your teachers and staff, and your administrators. I have been committed to the Canton City School District for well over 35 years. This is where I have wanted to be; there is no other district in which I have wanted to serve.

I will repeat to you what I said Monday to the Board of Education following my appointment: In every position I’ve held, in whatever capacity I’ve served, the only constant is that I have always worked very hard and have done my very best to serve the students, staff, and parents of this system. I intend to do exactly the same in this position of interim superintendent for as long as I am needed.

I am well aware of the many challenges we are facing.

I am confident that if we work together we can do the job that needs to be done. I plan to work alongside our talented teachers, staff and you, our families, to do whatever it takes to reach the goal of increased student achievement.

Thank you for your continued support.
