Scarf Project Seeks Donations

(Canton, Ohio) – The Scarf Project for Stark County is seeking donations of new warm scarves, hats, mittens or gloves.

Officials are announcing a new drop off location.  Donations can be dropped off at ESSENTIAL WAYS LLC, 33 Charles Avenue SE, Massillon, Ohio 44646 from 2  to  8 pm Tuesday thru Thursday, Friday 2 to 9 pm and Saturday from 12 to 8 pm.

The Scarf Project collects NEW/WARM hats, scarves, mittens & gloves throughout the year.  A “scarf bombing” is then done in November.  The items collected are distributed outside, for FREE, to anyone who is in need of a little help to keep warm.  They are in search of a location for distribution in the Massillon area.  The area must be outdoors, in a high traffic area, where individuals can take what they need for free.  There are no questions asked.  The primary goal of The Scarf Project is to warm the world, one scarf at a time.

The Scarf Project of Stark County was recently blessed with an offer of assistance by Jean Braden. The Scarf Project is very happy to have Jean’s help & expertise.  Jean is the founder of Stitches for Stark Co., a loose coalition of artists & makers who enjoy using their time and talents to help others.

Stitches for Stark Co. create blankets, hats, mittens, scarves, etc for local charity groups.  The groups they work with help families in need, such as homeless families, foster care children, domestic violence victims and those at the pregnancy crisis facility.  The Warm Snuggles Program and My Comfy Kits of Stark Co. are two of the most recent charities to receive items made by the members of the group.

Stitches for Stark Co., additional partners with the Binky Patrol, Inc., a national nonprofit organizations that provide blankets for children.  New yarn, fleece fabric, and finished blankets may also be donated at ESSENTIAL WAYS LLC.

The Scarf Project will do their 2019 “scarf bombing” either November 15th or 16th depending on the weather.  Scarves are hung during daylight hours only and never left out overnight.
