Local Leaders to Speak on Teen Mental Health and Risky Behaviors

(New Philadelphia, Ohio) – Tuscarawas County’s Sheriff will join a grieving mother  free event next month.

Jennifer Callentine, a Dover woman whose 23-year-old stepson Canaan Callentine died over the summer e to a drug overdose stemming from an addiction that began when he was just 14, will be the first speaker at the event. Tuscarawas County Sheriff Orvis Campbell will follow her.

Event organizers note they are encouraging parents to bring their children to hear Callentine’s story and learn more about the problem locally. Sheriff Campbell is expected to discuss he state of drug use and abuse in Tuscarawas County.

Local mental health professionals and agency representatives will also be on hand prior to the event to offer additional information. Everything kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center at Kent State University at Tuscarawas.
