Parents and Teens Invited to Mental Health Event

(New Philadelphia, Ohio) – Parents and teens are asked to attend a program tonight on teen mental health and risky behaviors.

The event will take place at the Performing Arts Center at Kent State University at Tuscarawas, 330 University Drive NE, New Philadelphia.

The event beings at 7:00 p.m. and doors open at 6:30 p.m. Local mental health professionals and agency representative will present a variety of information at an expo-like event in the lobby of the PAC.

Speakers include Jennifer Callentine, Dover woman whose 23-year-old stepson Canaan Callentine died from an overdose; Tuscarawas County Sheriff Orvis Campbell who will discuss the state of drug use and abuse locally; Natalie Bollon, executive director of the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board of Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties; and Haley McFarland, mental health counselor at Personal Family Counseling Services.

Additionally, officials note may local school districts are offering incentives to their students for attending the event grades 8th through 12th.
