Mentor Mondays: The Ultimate Experience

(New Philadelphia, Ohio) – Big Brothers Big Sisters is focused on children and encouraging experiences and relationships that allow them to thrive.

As part of their continued efforts to connect children with these important aspects that lead to successful lives, Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Ohio remains dedicated to embracing community-based activities!

For the first time, BBBS is merging two separate events into one dynamic experience for the entire Tuscarawas County community. Last year the organization hosted both a Touch-A-Truck Event as well as the Pulling for Kids’ Sake fundraiser. This Year’s event, deemed Truck Fest, combines those two events into one that offers free activities to the public as well as a fundraising effort for both BBBS and United Way.

The Touch-A-Truck event will be from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and will include dozens of trucks and vehicles that kids can crawl up in and see up close, activities from local non-profit organizations, a dunk tank, bouncy houses, food trucks, and prizes. All activities are free and open to the public!

The highlight of the event will be the Truck Pull, which will serve as the fundraising portion of the event. Truck Pulls will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 3:0 p.m. Teams of up to six adults can sign up to pull an 8-ton truck. There will be a woman’s, men’s, and co-ed division and awards will be given to teams that complete the pull in the fastest time. Registration is $20 per person. Online registration opens this month. Teams will be able to choose a priority spot for the pull as well as a guaranteed t-shirt in the size of their choice. There will also be a children’s division for $10 and medals will be awarded for all kids that complete the challenge!

But wait, there’s more!

The evening portion of the event, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. will be geared towards adults and will feature live music, a beer garden, and food trucks. The evening will conclude with additional raffles and activities.

The event takes place at New Towne Mall on Saturday, June 15th in a joint partnership with BBBS, United Way, and New Towne Mall.
