(Canton, Ohio) – The Canton City School Board has made a final decision as to who will lead the district.
In a 5-0 vote on Tuesday, the board officially hired Jeffrey Graham as the new superintendent of the district. Graham currently serves as the regional superintendent of Cleveland Metropolitan School District.
The move comes nine days after he was declared the finalist for the position after Alliance City Schools Superintendent, Jeffrey Talbert withdrew from the bid.
It is expected that Graham will begin work this summer, however, an official start date has not been announced as his salary remains under negotiation.
Graham succeeds interim Superintendent, Barbara Maceyak, who took over the position after former Superintendent, Adrian Allison left the district earlier this year.
The Canton City School District includes 8,650 children, 2,240 employees and operates on roughly $182 million annually.
