(New Philadelphia, Ohio) – New Philadelphia will have a new and exciting event featured at New Towne Mall on Saturday, June 15th.
Truck Fest will be the ultimate combination of some smaller previous events that will provide a day full of activities and fun to individuals of all ages. The event will feature a Touch-A-Truck with dozens of vehicles that kids can see up close like never before.
Also present will be vendors and activities for kids from organizations like the YMCA and The Salvation Army. Olivia Scally, Director of Development and Marketing at Big Brothers Big Sisters said, “We’re so excited to offer this event to our community. We had some success with different pieces of it in prior years, but felt that combining them for the ultimate day of activities was the best route to reach a wide audience in the area.” New Towne Mall decided to make the Touch-A-Truck its main event this year after the success of the first one last year.
The incorporation of Big Brothers Big Sisters Annual Pulling for Kids’ Sake fundraiser seemed like a natural fit to add to the overall Truck Fest event. “For the past several years we’ve had a really unique and fun competition where teams will take a shot at pulling an AEP truck across a finish line in the fastest time,” Scally said. “It seemed natural to move the competition up and pair it with the Touch-A-Truck event.”
The event will benefit both Big Brothers Big Sisters and the United Way. Robin Waltz, President of United Way of Tuscarawas County said, “The United Way of Tuscarawas County is delighted to be able to collaborate on this free family-friendly community event that will also highlight the many resources available to residents in the county”.
The event is a true partnership between Big Brothers Big Sisters, the United Way, and New Towne Mall. The event features multiple pieces. The Touch-A-Truck activities will be available from 12:00 pm until 4:00.
During that time, the Pulling Competition, sponsored by AEP Ohio, will be active from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Individuals or teams of up to six (6) can sign up to pull an 8-ton truck a total of 50 feet in the fastest time.
Participants are able to register in advance at TuscTruckFest.com or can sign up during the event. Registration is $2o for each participant. Awards will be given to the fastest men’s, women’s and co-ed teams and t-shirts will be provided to all participants. A Polaris will also be available for a separate children’s division.
Child entries will be $10 and all completed pulls will be awarded a ribbon. There will be a time of transition as an evening concert will occur starting at 5:00 pm. Attendees will be able to enjoy food trucks, a beer garden, and live music from Hannah Street and the evening will conclude at 8:00 pm.
This year’s Truck Fest is presented by DoverPhila Credit Union. A full list of sponsors, vendors, activities, and featured trucks can be found at TuscTruckFest.com along with details for registration for the Pulling Competition.
