Stark County voters likely to see Children Services levy on November ballot

(Canton, Ohio) – Stark County commissioners are moving forward with a plan to place the levy before voters later this year.

On Wednesday, the board voted 3-0 to ask the Stark County Auditor’s office to determine how much revenue would be raised with the passage of a five-year, 1.4-mill replacement levy.

Officials discussed the loss of a federal grant and pointed to the opioid epidemic’s direct impact on the number of neglected and abused children going into the county’s care.

This would be the first requested levy increase by the county in 14 years.
