(Canton, Ohio) – The Stark County THRIVE program is receiving an award from the American Hospital Association.
The program, which is overseen by Aultman Hospital and the Canton Public Health Department, focuses on preventing infant mortality. It is now being recognized by the national non-profit Ameican Hospital Association for improving community health.
The local program is one of five winners of the 2019 AHA Dick Davidson NOVA Award, a nationally distributed award. In a press release, the program was defined as one that “works to reduce infant mortality rates and birth outcome disparities in Stark County, where infant mortality rates were some of the highest in the nation.”
The THRIVE program works to bring together individuals from local hospitals, health departments, and community partners with a goal to “educate, elevate and support new mothers and families in the community to see that every baby reaches his/her first birthday.”
