(Canton, Ohio) – The school-based program offered by CommQuest meets kids where they are!
CommQuest provides School-Based services in over 90 schools throughout our community. These services are designed to partner with teachers, students, and families at each school to support each child in their development.
CommQuest’s trained staff use a strength and relation-based approach to foster resiliency and assist in the development of social and emotional health. We do this by providing early childhood services, prevention services, and School-Based mental health services.
Early Childhood Services
These services are provided to children from birth to age 6. CommQuest staff work with teachers and families to create an individualized plan to ensure each child has a successful start to school. Our goal is to build each child’s positive social and emotional skill while reducing the amount of trauma on learning.
CommQuest prevention services are designed to help address concerns that create barriers to student learning and success. CommQuest staff work with groups of students teaching them a set curriculum which addresses the importance of fostering healthy lifestyle choices and decreasing risky behaviors including, substance abuse, bullying, and emotional struggles, which can emerge during the school year.
School-Based Mental Health
School-Based Mental Health services are provided to students on an individualized basis and consist of both consultation and treatment. Consultation is performed by a CommQuest staff member with a goal of connection a student and their family to community resources that can help address behavioral health needs. Treatment services can be provided in the school by a CommQuest staff member and help address a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, behavioral difficulties, and trauma. Counseling sessions are scheduled within the school day, or directly after, to reduce barriers such as scheduling and transportation.
