(Ohio) – Buckeye Health Plan hosted its first Kids Fitness Challenge at the Ohio State Fair on Buckeye Health Plan Day – Sunday, July 28th.
Children ages 6 to 14 years old joined Buckeye’s mascot, Buckley, on stage with a local fitness instructor to get fit and compete in fun fitness activities. All children won prizes for participating, with six children taking home new bicycles and helmets.
For 14-year-old Quentin from Westerville, Ohio, winning the bike was perfect timing. “Quentin’s bike broke this week and he uses it to bike four miles home from school. This is a huge help!” said Quentin’s mom, Noelle.
Physical activity is a key contributor to current and future health. Only one in five children ages 6 to 19-years-old get the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity each day. Buckeye is an active supporter of activities and programs that promote health awareness with youth in Ohio as part of our commitment to transforming the health of the community, one person at a time.
As part of Buckeye’s sixth year as an Ohio State Fair sponsor, Buckeye also reached more than 100,000 Ohioans with important health messages at the Buckeye Health Plan tent. PrimaryOne, a valued Buckeye Health Plan partner, was also there providing 71 health screenings and information about their services and mission.
Thank you for being a valued Buckeye Health Plan Community Partner!
