(Canal Fulton, Ohio) A local community is taking steps to better prepare future babysitters.
In Canal Fulton, the fire department is now offering classes for students in sixth through eighth grades to help them fine-tune their first aid skills and learn about being young entrepreneurs.
The fire department is utilizing the curriculum and resources from Safe Sitter, an organization that aims to prepare future babysitters. The program was funded by a SummerTime Kids 2019 Grant and will allow for 30 students to complete the 5 ½ hour course at no charge.
Officials note the instructors teach courses which focus on four key points: safety, child-care, first aid/rescue drills, and life and business skills.
