(Ohio) – The 2019 Ohio School Report Cards are expected to be released on Thursday, Sept. 12.
The report cards give parents, communities, educators, and policymakers a clear picture of the progress of Ohio’s districts and schools in raising achievement and preparing students for the future.
For the second year, schools and districts will be assigned overall letter grades. The overall grade is calculated using results in the six components: Achievement, Progress, Gap Closing, Improving At-Risk K-3 Readers, Graduation Rate and Prepared for Success. The 2019 Guide to Ohio School Report Cards provides an overview and explanation of the key components of the report cards.
As a way to highlight the many successes and achievements of Ohio’s school districts, the Ohio Department of Education gave districts an opportunity to add their own links to profile pages that describe their unique qualities and successes.
Ohio School Report Cards are not the only measure of the success or accomplishments of a school or district. Talking with parents and neighbors, browsing school and district websites or visiting schools and meeting educators can provide a more complete picture of students’ educational experiences. Many elements combine to form a teaching and learning community, and Ohio’s districts and schools have many points of pride to share.
On Thursday, users will be able to find the grades and other data for all schools and districts, including community and other schools, at reportcard.education.ohio.
