(Dover, Ohio) – The Tuscarawas County Health Department is holding its annual community baby shower, a “Barnyard Bash”, on November 2nd from 9am-noon at NewPointe Community Church, 3950 Route 39 in Dover.
All expectant parents, moms, and dads with babies and young children, as well as grandparents and caregivers, are invited to enjoy this free community event. Food, fun, information, and lots of door prizes and giveaway opportunities will be shared.
Guests are encouraged to visit the community partner tables to learn about the resources available to them. Along the way, guests will collect tickets for a chance to win whichever of the many amazing giveaways they would like. Guests are also encouraged to participate in one, or all, of the following four breakout sessions being provided, for education and resources needed to help keep their babies and children safe and healthy.
A car seat safety session is scheduled for 9:15am-9:40am. Guests who attend this breakout session will learn how to choose the right seat at the right time, how to install child safety seats properly, and about the Ohio Buckles Buckeyes program, a program that provides free child safety seats to eligible participants.
Cribs for Kids is scheduled for 9:50am-10:20am. Guests in this session will learn about how to reduce the risk for SIDS as well as the best practices to keep babies safe while they sleep. Eligible Cribs for Kids participants will receive a free Graco Pack ‘n Play as well.
Scheduled for 10:30am-11:00am is a CPR session. Guests will learn how to identify situations where CPR may be needed and receive hands-on practice while learning how to provide CPR for infants, children, and adults.
Guests can also learn how to make their own baby food during the session scheduled from 11:10-11:30.
A car seat check will take place in the South parking lot from 10am-12pm. Guests who have a car seat can have a Certified Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) to examine their seat. The CPST will check for recalls, expired seats, installation errors, and ensure the safety seat is right for the child. Eligible guests who have a safety seat that is found to be unsafe may be able to receive a new Evenflo Titan 65 convertible car seat or Evenflo high back booster seat at no cost.
