(Canton, Ohio) – The local organization, Newsymom LLC, is partnering with the Canton Salvation Army and the Dover Public Library to bring the community two Spanish Storytime programs every month in 2020.
Spanish Storytime will be offered to the Stark County community and the Tuscarawas County Community in partnership with the Canton Salvation Army and the Dover Public Library from January – June of 2020! The program will be held at the Canton Salvation Army the second Saturday of each month and at the Dover Public Library the third Saturday of each month from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. The program will include up to two books read in Spanish with fun, interactive discussions about the books in both Spanish and English.
Also included during the program will be mini music sessions featuring songs for children in Spanish, and other surprise activities. Programs will be led by Newsymom team member, Sarah Robbins. “Every child should have the joy and advantage of early literacy in their native language,” explained Robbins. “We should also encourage people from other cultures to embrace their heritage without negative disadvantages.”
The program is completely free to the public.
“Sarah is a blessing to our organization in that she allows us to remove the language barrier and to expand our reach to connect with even more families,” explained Newsymom Executive Director, Michaela Madison. “It is important that as a community we work together to enhance programs that focus on inclusion. We are proud to work with each of our partners to make this happen.”
The program will continue into the second half of the year from July- December with the partners being theTuscarawas County Library and the Stark County Library. Specific details regarding dates and branch locations will be announced later in the year via Newsymom.com and Newsymom social media platforms, Facebook and Instagram.
