(Canton, Ohio) – The Canton City Schools Levy Committee is hosting a KICK-OFF event on Tuesday, January 21st at McKinley High School Downtown Campus.
The Kick-off will be held in the Commons from 5:30-6:30 and anyone who would like to volunteer for our campaign is encouraged to attend. During the Kick-off, Superintendent Dr. Jeff Graham will lay out what is at stake with Issue 19 and how volunteers can help our campaign succeed. Election Day is March 17th and Early Voting starts February 19th.
Officials explained in a press release, “the quality of the Canton City School District impacts our entire community. Issue 19 is critical to keep our District moving forward. Issue 19 would be the first new money in 9 years. Our district already slashed expenses by $7.6 million dollars last year – cuts that deeply affected staffing, programming, and transportation. Simply put, we can’t cut our way to better schools.”
“Issue 19 will fund our strategic plan which has been developed after months of community input, internal study, and analyses of best practices. Without passage of Issue 19 in March, our District will face an additional $5.1 million in cuts next school year. Those cuts would further reduce resources for classroom learning and transportation. This is our last chance before devastating cuts next school year.”
The public is invited to attend the event on January 21st to hear more about Issue 19 and to volunteer for the campaign as well as to take the following short survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CantonVolunteers.
