(Dover, Ohio) – In support of our first responders, The Tuscarawas County Office of Emergency Management & Homeland Security is seeking donations of personal protective equipment (PPE).
We are reaching out to the community in hopes of finding assistance during this very challenging time.
“We ask for your help to ensure the best possible protection for our public safety personnel so they can stay healthy and protected in order to assist those in need,” stated Katie Seward, MPH, Tuscarawas County Health Commissioner. “Personal protective equipment is also used for patients during transport to help reduce further exposure of COVID-19 to responders and hospital personnel.”
Governor DeWine has encouraged those with a surplus of PPE to donate to their local Emergency Management Agencies. Donations will be prioritized and distributed to our providers with the greatest need.
Needed PPE not only includes items from medical providers, but also includes other personal protective equipment that is addressed in the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) standards for general industry, maritime, and the construction trades.
Community needs include the following:
- N95 masks (including industrial types)
- Surgical masks and surgical masks with face shields
- Medical gowns
- Latex and Nitrile Gloves
- Hand Sanitizer
