The weight of the COVID-19 pandemic has fallen on many and mothers are at the top of that list.
While every Mother’s Day should focus on you relaxing and being pampered, this one is especially important! The last few weeks have been inundated with homeschooling, working with limited resources, taking care of the kids, and more. All of us at Newsymom have voted and we agree that a little rest is required! Here are a few ideas you can celebrate yourself this Mother’s Day!
1. Sleep in!!
Sure, this seems like a far-fetched idea, especially with a house full of kids, but we are urging you to give it a shot. We’ve all been trying to get up earlier and earlier to try and accomplish our growing list of to-dos. Well, stop it. At least for one day. DO NOT set that alarm. Leave the morning routine to your significant other so that you can enjoy an extra hour of rest!
2. Go on a walk, alone.
As much as we may enjoy those long walks as a family, it’s important that you find a moment for some ‘me time’ during this uncertain time. Start your favorite playlist and grab your earbuds and favorite walking shoes and leave the chaos behind, at least for a little while.
3. Read a book.
Find a quiet nook in your home or make your way to the front porch with a good book and a cozy blanket. Even if you just read the first page over and over…let the idea of having time to spend just reading sink in.
4. Call on your significant other for a massage.
The family can’t send you to the spa right now for a professional massage, so recruit your SO to do it for you. Relax with some nice music and your favorite candle and allow yourself to be pampered. Shoot for when the kiddos are in bed for some uninterrupted pampering.
5. Take a long bubble bath.
And most importantly, call on your significant other to entertain the kids while you soak. Get squeaky clean and let yourself completely relax without the interruption of little voices shouting ‘mommy’ and knocking on the other side of the door.
6. Splurge on a gift for you.
Sure, you may receive a few gifts from your loved ones, but it doesn’t hurt to jump on your favorite online store and snag yourself those cozy, comfy, cute leggings you’ve been eyeing for weeks.
7. Enjoy some one-on-one time with your kiddos.
Sure, ideas 1-6 were all about peaceful moments without the kiddos, but after all, without them, we wouldn’t be moms in the first place. This is a sentimental day that also allows us to remember the blessing we’ve been given and the opportunity to be moms. Soak that up and make forever memories with those cute little humans.
