(New Philadelphia, Ohio) – Mentoring is now more important than ever before as children have been isolated and need a positive influence.
Mentor Monday is brought to you by Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Ohio.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Ohio is challenging Tuscarawas and Carroll County residents to help them match 10 Littles that have been waiting to meet their Big. According BBBS officials, children are in need of mentors now more than ever to help them navigate the unknowns and many changes they’ll face in the months ahead, especially when considering the impact of COVID-19.
Bigs are simply friends. They dedicate a few hours each month to a child and fill a critical rule in that child’s life as a positive influence, support system, and advocate. Matches spend time doing activities together they both enjoy or try including fishing, watching movies, playing sports, creating things, and more.
Community members are encouraged to follow the BBBS Facebook page to meet the children waiting for mentors via Waiting Little profiles. There will be videos, podcasts, and more from staff and matches to share even more information about the impactful work of the organization and the matches.
Even if you are unable at this time to make the commitment to mentor, you can still help local children thrive! Community members are being asked to adopt a match. Every match costs BBBS a total of $1,200 in its first year. Sponsorship levels to adopt a match range from $300 to $1,200 and come with benefits including consistent social media recognition and event tickets. The campaign’s podcast is presented by Republic State Mortgage, meaning every sponsorship directly funds the success and support of a real local match.
