(Dover, Ohio) – Research has shown that the number of children obtaining the recommended vaccinations has declined during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic, and The Tuscarawas County Health Department is offering a full week of special vaccination appointments.
Appointments will be available until July 9th, to help area parents and caregivers meet the healthcare needs of their children. Now is a good time for children entering kindergarten, seventh, and twelfth grade to get their required vaccinations for back to school as well.
“While we are understandably all very concerned about the pandemic, we need to also remember the dangers that other communicable diseases like measles and whooping cough can have on children,” explained Angie Frantz of the Tuscarawas County Health Department (TCHD). “Getting your child’s vaccinations on time can help protect them from 15 vaccine-preventable diseases. We provide vaccinations year-round here at the health department, but we wanted to offer this special week of appointments to really focus on helping area families get up-to-date.”
Vaccination appointments can be made by calling 330-343-5555, ext. 134 or 174. Insurance will be billed. For those who do not have insurance, the cost is $21 per shot through TCHD’s Vaccines for Children program, or the family can schedule an appointment with TCHD’s Patient Navigator to determine eligibility for insurance coverage.
