Newsymom announces 2020 scholarship award recipient

(New Philadelphia, Ohio) – In partnership with Kent State University at Tuscarawas Newsymom.com is announcing the award recipient of the first annual scholarship fund.

The Newsymom scholarship fund was created to support mothers continuing their education and was made available this year to those enrolled as a student at Kent State University at Tuscarawas for the upcoming 2020 Fall semester. The fund is designed specifically to support mothers continuing their education. It is funded completely by Newsymom merchandise sales and community partnerships.

“I’m really excited about this scholarship and for our recipient,” explained Kent State University at Tuscarawas Dean Brad Bielski. “We really appreciate everything Newsymom does for the campus.”

The award recipient for the 2020-2021 academic year is Heather Stromski of Carrolton. Heather will receive an award in the amount of $500 distributed in full this Fall. Heather submitted a one-page essay where she explained her challenges and triumphs juggling motherhood and trying to further her education.

It was not easy when I first began college those many years ago, to juggle so many obligations, and it is not easy now when I have a much more important one that has to take priority,” she explained in the essay. “At the same time, though, I know that it is important to do things for my children, not just me. I want them to see that it is never too late to follow your dreams.”

The application for the second annual Newsymom Scholarship for the 2021-2020 academic year will open in January of 2021.
