Fathers Walk Your Child to School Day

(Canton, Ohio) – The event may look slightly different this year, but the importance remains the same.

Stark County Job and Family Services and the Stark County Fatherhood Coalition are inviting fathers to participate in this year’s ‘Fathers Walk Your Child to School Day‘ on Thursday, October 1st. Organizers explained that due to COVID-19 restrictions, this year’s event will not include volunteers at each school greeting fathers and children as they arrive, however, “we want to highlight the importance of fathers who participate in this day with their children,” officials shared in a flyer for the event.

Fathers are asked to get their children ready for school, share breakfast together, or walk their children to school. To further promote the importance of the event, the Stark County Fatherhood Coalition is asking fathers who participate to submit a photo or even record a short video. The videos and photos will be organized by district and turned into a video and/or slideshow that will be published on the coalition’s Facebook page.

Everyone who submits a photo or video will be entered into a raffle to win one of 40 $25 gift cards. Submissions must include the father’s name, the child’s school district, a contact phone number, and permission to use the images/videos.  Content can be sent to matthew.lytle@jfs.ohio.gov.
