(New Philadelphia, Ohio) – The Tuscarawas United-Feeding our Future Bags program is relocating.
Effective November 30th, 2020, the program will be relocated to the Tuscarawas County Juvenile Court, according to the Tuscarawas County Health Department. The program works to eliminate childhood hunger while also offering education and skill-building throughout the community. The partnership to make it all happen is between the Tuscarawas County Health Department, the Tuscarawas County Juvenile Court, the United Way of Tuscarawas County, the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, Adventure Harley Davidson, the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank, and the Greater Dover-New Philadelphia Food Pantry.
Officials indicated grant funding was secured that will ensure the program continues. The only change is who will be considered the lead agency and packing and distribution are expected to continue without interruption. Officials noted that moving the program to the Juvenile Court allows further growth opportunities.
Approximately 4,280 children in the county experience food insecurity.
