2021 Newsymom Scholarship

Here at Newsymom, we love seeing moms who are passionate about what they do. There are countless inspirational mothers out there, and a portion of these mothers are those pursuing their passions through continued education. This endeavor can be daunting as mothers already have countless responsibilities to juggle, and their children are their priority. It takes strength, courage, and dedication, and Newsymom wishes to support one mother’s journey in continuing her education by offering the second annual Newsymom Scholarship in 2021 in partnership with Kent State University at Tuscarawas.

This year’s scholarship has been made possible by community partnerships in addition to a dedicated and passionate Newsymom supporter, Veronica Day. We would be remised not to mention Veronica after she helped secure the 2021 Newsymom Scholarship amid many challenges related to COVID-19. Veronica is a realtor with Carol Goff & Associates, and throughout 2020, she has contributed a portion of each of her real estate sales, from her personal income, to the Newsymom Scholarship fund. As COVID-19 has made it challenging to hold events and other activities which typically fund the annual scholarship, Veronica has had a significant impact in funding the 2021 Newsymom Scholarship with her courteous donations. Because of her support and commitment, Newsymom is once again able to provide a $500 scholarship to a deserving mother.

Veronica states the scholarship fund is near and dear to her heart as she started college at the age of thirty-three with four children at home. Veronica reminisces about doing homework at the table alongside her children. She states it was hard, but she has no regrets. Veronica explained, “Knowledge is power, and no one can take that from you!” She understands these mothers as she has been in their shoes, and she knows they only want better for themselves and their children.

We’d also like to take this moment to give another congratulations to the award recipient of the 2020 Newsymom Scholarship, Heather Stromski of Carrolton. Heather won due to her compelling essay about persevering through the challenges of furthering her education while also making her family a priority. She was also able to remark on the joys and triumphs she has experienced throughout her time in college. She wants to model for her children that it is never too late to follow your dreams.

We are looking forward to continuing this program and connecting with more amazing, ambitious mothers this year! The 2021 Newsymom Scholarship application period is now open!
