(New Philadelphia, Ohio) – The Ohio School Boards Association and Buckeye Career Center are celebrating School Board Recognition Month in January 2021 to build awareness and understanding of the vital function a board of education plays in our society.
School Board Recognition Month honors the members of Ohio’s more than 700 city, exempted village, local, and joint vocational boards of education and educational service centers governing boards for their commitment to providing quality public education to Ohio’s school children. School board members unselfishly contribute their time and talents toward the advancement of public education. They represent a continuing commitment to local citizen control and decision-making in education. Even though Ohio makes a special effort during January to show appreciation to our school board members, we recognize their contributions reflect a year-round commitment on their part.
Buckeye Career Center is joining with other districts throughout the state to recognize the important contributions school board members make to their communities. “Our Buckeye Career Center Board of Education members are truly dedicated to our students, staff, and stakeholders,” said Superintendent Bob Alsept. “Many of them also serve on their partner school board of education. The time away from their family is very valuable to keep us on the proper course. Too frequently, they receive far more criticism than praise. This is an opportunity for all of us to say thank you for a job well done,” he said.
Buckeye Career Center Board of Education members for 2021 include Steve Brode (Newcomerstown), Jim Gertz (East Holmes), Robert Higgenbotham (Conotton Valley), Michelle Sproul (Claymont), Wes Hostetler (Strasburg), Randy Longacher (Dover), Dick Marshall (Garaway), Dave Frantz (New Philadelphia), Dan Ries (Carrollton), Francis Picchetti (Indian Valley), and Scott Tritt (TuscarawasValley).
Buckeye Career Center will honor our board during Thursday, January 14th, 2021 during its regularly scheduled board meeting. Each member will also receive a small gift, designed by the Buckeye Career Center Business/Marketing lab.
