Ashland City School substitutes are getting a raise

(Ashland, Ohio) – The five-member Ashland City School District Board of Education is moving forward with new rates for substitute staff.

The board approved an $80 daily rate for all substitute teachers. Additionally, they’ll receive an additional $12 for beginning their day at the high school or middle school and moving to an elementary school building for the afternoon. The former rate was $80 for certified substitute teachers and $70 for others.

Additionally, the board approved an $8.80 hourly rate for classified substitutes, which matches the state’s new minimum wage increase. These workers include food service workers, noon and bus duty works, secretaries, casual field technicians, and several paraprofessional roles, according to reports.
