BCC announces first-ever virtual award ceremony to honor 2020 senior class

(New Philadelphia, Ohio) – Buckeye Career Center will honor the class of 2020 seniors with a first-ever virtual award ceremony, Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at 7pm.

The ceremony will feature photos of senior students in their partner school caps and gowns, along with notations of honors and awards received while attending BCC. The ceremony will be available for viewing on the school’s website at www.BuckeyeCareerCenter.org.

Buckeye Career Center administrators believe a virtual ceremony is the safest way to celebrate the accomplishments of the class of 2020 during these unprecedented times and the current ban on mass gatherings. “With all of the variables that go along with an end-of-year award ceremony, this is our best and safest way of honoring our seniors,” said Buckeye Career Center Superintendent Bob Alsept. “This is something no other Buckeye class has done before. They are the very first to have a Virtual Award Ceremony. We are thankful that technology allows us to honor our seniors, while still practicing safe social distancing,” commented Alsept.

In order to enhance the presentation, Buckeye Career Center asks that all senior students take a photo in his or her cap and gown and share that image to the DropBox link provided by the students’ respective lab instructor via GoogleClassroom. This image should be sent in a JPEG format by May 12, 2020 to be included in the virtual ceremony. If you ordered a cap and gown, it is available for pick up at your home school. If no photo is received, BCC staff will use a photo of the student that is already on file.

In addition to having access to the virtual ceremony online, seniors will receive a copy of the production on a jump drive that will be provided by BCC. This will be mailed, along with career passports, following the ceremony.

Again, the BCC 2020 Virtual Award Ceremony will be posted online Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at 7pm to the Buckeye Career Center website at www.BuckeyeCareerCenter.org. Any questions should be directed to the high school office at 330.339.2288.
