Fearon is an incumbent candidate looking to hold onto his position on the Garaway Local School Board of Education.
Fearon and his wife have four children, all who attended Garaway Local Schools and he explained he is very proud of the education they received thanks to the excellent staff throughout the district.
Fearon served as a custodian at Dundee Elementary School for 20 years and noted because of that he has considerable knowledge of the buildings.
“When I first ran for school board I made a promise to the voters to keep our elementary buildings open,” explained Fearon. “Thanks to voters I was able to keep that promise.”
Fearon told Newsymom.com that he is looking to be elected for a second term in an effort to continue the progress that the present board has accomplished.
“Not only have we kept the elementary buildings open, but we have made many improvements to all school buildings in the district in order to keep them safe for our children.”
He noted his goals if elected would be to increase enrollment in the Garaway Virtual Academy.
“[It] adds dollars to our revenue,” said Fearon. “The best part about GVA is that students will receive a Garaway diploma and also are eligible to participate in all extracurricular activities. I would also like to continue to make upgrades to our buildings where needed.”
