Including You – Recognizing local provider agencies and direct support professionals

There are many faces that make the team at the Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities and all are impacting local lives.

Including You is brought to you by the Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

Among the many important positions found within the developmental disabilities field, you will find Direct Support Professionals or DSPs. These dedicated individuals work directly with people that have a developmental disability. They help them in their day-to-day lives.

DSPs offer essential services while also becoming powerful advocates for those they serve at the same time. These individuals help to ensure those served by TuscBDD have access to services they need to stay healthy and happy. Not only do DSPs provide day-to-date services and support, but they also work with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families to develop services and supports that directly reflect the goals and desires of those served.

DSPs much like other frontline workers such as nurses are considered essential, frontline workers. During the COVID 19 pandemic, DSPs worked through and continue to work in person through the pandemic to support individuals with developmental disabilities who rely on these critical supports on a daily basis.

September 13-20 is Direct Support Professional Appreciation and Recognition Week and TuscBDD has been recognizing the many faces that fill this important role within the community.
