Library to Offer Sports Themed Reading Club for Kids

(Dover, Ohio) – With the fall season and the prospect of cooler weather on the horizon, football is on the minds of many sports fans including the Dover Public Library.

The library is feeling the Tornado Spirit and invites all young readers to join the Little Tornadoes Reading Club. Members who meet the reading challenges throughout the school year can earn a variety of prizes, like a membership T-shirt (handed out each spring), collectible sports tokens (similar to the toe tokens distributed for the Walking Challenge), new friends made at our poster-making workshops, a membership card valid for 1 year, and a free ticket to a High School game.

“We are extending our membership possibilities this year,” says Youth Services Manager Claire Kandle. “Kids can choose a reading challenge for football, boys and girls’ basketball, baseball, and softball. They will earn a token for each challenge they complete, and those who collect 3 tokens will be invited to our End-of-the-Year pizza party in May.”

Registration is now open for the football reading challenge, and it must be completed by October 3. So crack open those books, sports fans! This Kids’ Club is open to all kids in grades K-5. You may call (330)343-6123 or email ckandle@doverlibrary.org for more information or to register.
