(Dover, Ohio) – Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Ohio is made up of a dedicated team, and Mandy Thomas is a piece of that puzzle!

Mentor Monday is brought to you by Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Ohio.

Mandy has served as a member of BBBS for six years and is currently a Mentoring Specialist. She is a resident of Tuscarawas County where she lives with her husband and their dog, Ginger. “Also want to shout out my awesome parents Barb and Steve Haney, Hi Mom! Hi Dad!.” Mandy has a fun-loving personality that’s immediately likable. When she’s not connecting with children and families through BBBS, she enjoys making crafts, walking her dog, reading, and watching comedies.

Mandy explained she became motivated to join the staff at BBBS because she has always wanted to help and has always enjoyed working with children. “It worked out for my internship for college and I stayed because it is a wonderful, selfless agency where all staff works together to benefit children in my county.” She added that there are so many things she loves about her position and the work of BBBS, “I love helping children meet their full potential, I love our awesome leadership, I love our staff, and I love the friendships we have been able to create.”

She indicated there are simply too many children who have fallen through the cracks and that believe they are worthless. BBBS, she explained, is here to support them and help them see how very much they are worth. “The community is only going to reap benefits from individuals, children, and families who learn to give back to their communities and to focus on others,” she added.

But, Mandy noted she’s not only a part of BBBS to teach and give back, but learn something herself. “I hope to learn something from every child I meet and every story I hear,” she said. ‘I hope to have a positive impact on every child and family I have the honor of serving.”
