Momfession-Time.

Time waits for no one.

I wasn’t sure what I would write about this month. Honestly, every month after I post an article, I tell myself that I will write as my life unfolds and every month I fail. Normally, I would criticize myself for this self-perceived failure but not today. This week I was reminded on a few occasions that even when I think I am failing, I am not. I am doing my best and I need to extend grace to myself.

Time waits for no one. If you’re reading this and struggling with the idea that you are failing, you’re not, especially us mothers that are trying to juggle being a great mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, employee, business owner, housekeeper, chef, and/or any other mantle that you may carry. YOU, yes you, are doing an amazing job! So, what you didn’t clean that mess up right away or run that errand. You showed up, you fed your baby, you hugged and kissed your baby, you watched the same movie or tv show with your baby for the 100th time…that matters so much more.

Solomon turned six months old yesterday and got his six-month shots followed by a rough night and day as a result. Initially I was quick to beat myself up for not writing in advance, I quickly had to check myself. Time with my family means so much more than an article, an errand, a load of laundry, dishes, etc. I am going to be more intentional about the time that I share with those that I love and I challenge you to do the same.

That errand can wait, the laundry can wait, those dishes can wait too. Hug and kiss your babies, hug and kiss your husband, check on your family and friends, take that selfie with your baby–messy hair and all. It’s much more rewarding than checking something off of your never-ending to do list. We all have a lot to do but let’s make sure that when we reflect on our lives in six months we enjoyed time with our loved ones. We shouldn’t spend all of our time checking things off of our to do list. I promise you that six months from now the last thing you’ll regret is not skipping that errand, load of laundry, or dishes. In six months you may regret not hugging and kissing your baby or husband, or taking advantage of their desire to snuggle with you. Be intentional with your time, it’s not stopping anytime soon.

Until next time; Solomon wants my undivided attention.
