Positive COVID cases linked to large high school/teenager social event

(Dover, Ohio) – The Tuscarawas County Health Department has identified multiple confirmed cases of COVID-19 linked to a large high school/teenager social event held on July 4, 2020 in Dover, Ohio.

Officials explained that the social event was not limited to individuals from any single high school jurisdiction and that contact tracing has been ineffective due to some lack of cooperation from the confirmed cases.

“We are encouraging any parent or person, who may have been in attendance at this social event AND are experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19 (including but not limited to: cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, muscle aches, loss of taste or smell, nausea or vomiting, and/or fever) to contact the Health Department as soon as possible at 330-343-5555 x126 or x187.”

Asymptomatic persons who may have been in attendance should continue to self-monitor and avoid contact with others through July 18, 2020. Those who wish to be tested for COVID-19, regardless of symptoms, should make an appointment by calling 330-343-5555 x143.
