STARK COUNTY – Massillon City Schools expected to finalize plans for upcoming school year

(Massillon, Ohio) – The Massillon City School District is sharing two potential learning options for the upcoming school year as officials work to finalize the plan.

District officials outlined specific plans and procedures this week. Officials indicated in a statement published to Facebook, ‘Our full Massillon City Schools reopening document will be available on our district website later this summer.” A survey is also expected to be submitted to parents and guardians on Monday, July 27th to offer the district a better understanding of which learning models will work best for specific students.

As of Friday, July 2th, parents will have two options for learning this fall:

  • Option #1 ALL IN: K-12 students will attend school traditionally, 5 days a week with numerous health and safety procedures in place.
  • Option #2 E-Learning: K-12 students will be able to enroll in an online-only E-Learning environment monitored by Massillon City School staff. Each student will be issued a district-purchased Chromebook with internet access being the responsibility of the family.

The Massillon City School District Board of Education has also approved the new student start date of Monday, August 24th to allow extra time for staff to prepare classrooms, buses, and cafeterias.
