Celebrate St Patrick’s Day with your toddler while improving their color recognition and motor skills with the gluing activity.

Who says your toddler can’t play with their food? Surprise and let them, well, just this once.

All you’ll need for this activity is the free printable at the bottom of this page, fruit loops, and glue. Not a lot of supplies for a ton of fun!

To do the activity, have your child separate the colors. Then they just need to place the fruit loops on the corresponding arch and glue them down.

St Patrick’s Day is a loved holiday that happens every March 17. Teaching your kids about the history of the day or just making it fun for them will bring a lot of joy. One of the best parts of being a parent is deciding what memories and traditions you get to start with your children.

The most obvious is color recognition. Toddlers are learning sponges, but sometimes they get their colors mixed up. This is a fun way for them to see the colors and keep pairing the color of the fruit loops to the arch on the rainbow.

It’s also great for motor skills. If you’ve ever tried to pick up individual fruit loops or Cheerios, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about! It also challenges them when they place them on the arches.

If you’re worried about the mess glue can make, there’s a few options for you.

The first option is you can let your toddler place all of the fruit loops down and then you can glue them on. Another option would be to pour some glue on a little plate and let them dip the fruit loop in there. The last option, the messiest one, is to let them explore how to use glue and hope for the best.

Whatever you decide to do, this project will turn out great. Just make sure your toddler doesn’t eat any fruit loops with glue on it!

You can hang it up on the fridge or make a little greeting card for grandparents, other family members, or teachers.
