OOOO girl?! Have you heard all the sniffles, sneezes, and coughs as you go about your day? As the seasons change, so does the risk of catching the flu. It’s that time of year again when we need to think about keeping our little ones healthy and happy. One surefire way to do that is by getting them the flu vaccine! The Tuscarawas County Health Department is here to help with appointments and walk-in clinics for your convenience. Today, we’re going to discuss three compelling reasons why you should consider getting your kids (aged 6 months and up) vaccinated against the flu.

  1. Protect Your Child’s Health

First and foremost, getting your child vaccinated against the flu is an essential step in safeguarding their health. The flu can be much more severe in children than we might think, especially in those under the age of five. Kids can experience high fevers, severe coughs, and even dangerous complications such as pneumonia. By getting the flu vaccine, you’re giving your child’s immune system a powerful tool to fight off the virus.

  1. Prevent the Spread of Flu

We all know that kids love to share – toys, snacks, and yes, especially germs. When one child in the family gets sick, it often means your whole household can get infected. The flu is highly contagious, and children can be carriers without showing severe symptoms. By vaccinating your child, you not only protect them but also help prevent the flu from spreading to others in your family and community. It’s a simple yet powerful way to contribute to the overall health of your loved ones.

  1. Keep Kids in School and Activities

We all want our children to thrive, learn, and enjoy their activities, whether it’s school, sports, or playdates. Unfortunately, the flu can put a wrench in those plans. When kids get sick, they often need to stay home from school and miss out on the things they love. By getting the flu vaccine, you can reduce the likelihood of your child getting sick, helping them stay in school and continue participating in their favorite activities.
