COAD launches free online parenting classes

(Ohio) – The Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development’s (COAD) Early Care and Education division has announced the start of online classes for parents.

As anyone who has ever cared for or parented a young child knows, there are times when we all need a word of encouragement or to learn something new. At a time when many of us are feeling particularly isolated and stressed and many of us are dealing with children who are feeling the same way, COAD is providing FREE online training sessions to help caregivers understand and guide their children’s behavior

Beginning Tuesday, April 14th, COAD will be providing FREE Systematic Training for Effective Parenting – Early Childhood (STEP – EC) sessions for parents/caregivers of children birth through age 6.  Additional courses will be scheduled in the coming weeks.

STEP is a parenting program appropriate for anyone (parents, grandparents, foster, child care providers, community agency workers) caring for children in this age range. Using this on-line platform, COAD is providing an opportunity for participants to receive some support, learn some new things about caring and connecting with young children, and connect with other parents/caregivers as well.

To register or receive additional information please contact Molle Allen at mallen@coadinc.org or Dianna Poling at (740) 675-9057. Parents are encouraged to call early to register. COAD is able to present these classes with funding from the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund – Eastern and Southeastern Regional Councils. COAD is a coalition of 17 Community Action agencies serving Appalachian Ohio.
