Dennison Depot Cancels 2020 Polar Express Rides

(Dennison, Ohio) – The popular Polar Expression train rides will not take place this year as a result of ongoing safety concerns related to COVID-19.

The rides were originally planned to run from December 4th through December 13th. Officials indicated that the safety of visitors and staff is their top priority. The decision came after conversations held with the Tuscarawas County Health Department, the Genesse & Wyoming Railroad, community leaders, the Polar Steering Committee, staff, and volunteers.

The Polar Express is traditionally the largest fundraising opportunity for the Dennison Depot. The cancelation of the event is expected to have a major economic impact on the organization.

For those who have already purchased tickets, there are a few options:

  • Individuals can donate the ticket value or a portion of the value to the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum.
  • Individuals can carry the value of their tickets over to the 2021 season with a variety of additional perks.
  • Individuals can request ticket refunds.

All customers will be contacted by email. For those interested in helping to support the museum and offset this significant financial loss, donations can be made by visiting denisondepot.org/donate/ or they can be mailed to Dennison Depot, P.O. Box 11, Dennison, Ohio 44621.
