Holiday Wellness Unwrapped: Your Guide to a Healthier Festive Season

In the midst of the holiday season, there is wrapping paper flying around, food being cooked, and family everywhere. However, it is important to make sure we do our best to stay healthy this holiday season. Read on for tips on how to help keep everyone healthier this festive season.

If you have spent any amount of time on social media, you have seen everyone posting about their whole family getting sick. It may feel unavoidable at times, but some measures can be taken.

The Centers for Disease Control gives some recommendations:
  • Wash your hands often: before, during, and after meal prep and using the restroom.
  • Get your vaccinations: Flu and RSV (if you are eligible)
  • Offer healthy food options.
  • Stay active through exercise.
  • Prepare food safely.

To help minimize the rest of your family and friends from getting sick, keep everyone home if one member is not feeling well. Enjoy time at home before big celebrations.

Other things to consider during the holidays:
  • Wear seat belts when driving to holiday events.
  • Avoid smoking or vaping, especially around children.
  • Do not drink and drive, please find a sober family member or friend.
  • Know the fire safety plan in every home you visit and ensure that smoke detectors are in working order.
  • Have a designated adult in charge of watching the young children during holiday gatherings.

Just remember everything is ultimately out of our hands, and sickness may hit our houses at the worst time, but we can still make the best of it and enjoy the season!
