Kent State Tuscarawas Announces New Scholarship to Honor the Late Dick Farrell

(New Philadelphia, Ohio) – Dick Farrell passed away in September at the age of 67 and now Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing a scholarship in his honor.

Farrell was a Dover resident, journalist, blogger and longtime advocate of education. He was also a former editor of The Times-Reporter and served nearly 40 years as a trustee of Kent State University at Tuscarawas.

Donations for the new scholarship are currently around $9,000. According to the Times-Reporter, the goal is to collect enough funds to establish an endowment to provide for an annual award. The first award is expected to be given in 2020.

Donations can be made to Dick Farrell Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the Tuscarawas County University Foundation, 330 University Dr. NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663, or at kent.edu.
