(3 Minute Read) Dover, Ohio – The Big Brothers Big Sisters board is made up of many different individuals with a variety of backgrounds and expertise.

Adam Wilgus is currently a Magistrate in the Tuscarawas County Juvenile/Probate Court by day and whenever called upon also serves as a dedicated member of the BBBS board. He currently lives in Dover with his wife and son.

Wilgus has served on the BBBS board since 2017 after reaching out to the director to learn more about the organization. “I contacted the President of BBBS because I regularly see children in my courtroom that are in need of positive role models,” he explained. “We met for lunch to discuss my concerns and learn more about the efforts of BBBS. Later, I was offered the opportunity to serve as a board member.”

Wilgus explained that the mission of BBBS is consistent with his own beliefs that providing mentorship to children is important. “My career is focused on making a positive impact on children and families in Tuscarawas County. BBBS is making a big difference in our community and I’m grateful to be a small part of it.”

He went on to explain that our children of today are the leaders of tomorrow. Wilgus explained that it is important to invest in our future generations and give them every opportunity to be successful. “Being a mentor means giving a child your time, encouragement, guidance, and compassion.”

Wilgus described those working with BBBS as “some of the most selfless individuals you will ever meet.” He highlighted his joy in seeing children be excited at events and listening to the stories of their many adventures with their mentors.

“Working with the great people dedicated to mentoring children and observing the impact they are having,” was one favorite Wilgus highlighted about being part of BBBS. “It’s humbling to have the opportunity to be a part of helping children in their development.”
