Momfession – ONE.

One year full of joy, laughter, lessons, tears, adjustments, growth, and healing; one year full of you.

Joy.

One of my greatest desires for as long as I can remember was to be a Mommy. God fulfilled my desire and brought me so much joy in the form of you.

Laughter.

You always find a reason to laugh and a way to make us laugh. From twirling around in circles to the night you put daddy to sleep and started playing instead of daddy putting you to sleep. Laughter is sure to be shared with you around.

Lessons.

We have learned so many lessons from you, for example, put you in your crib before we fall asleep. Also, don’t underestimate you, you are capable of so much more than what meets the eye.

Tears.

Tears of joy and frustration. Joy because you are an absolute blessing and frustration because I don’t want to fail you as a mother. I often wonder if I am doing everything that I should or could to cultivate you into the best you that knows how to receive and give love.

Adjustments.

The global pandemic forced us to adjust our preparation plans for your arrival. Since your arrival, you have taught me that it’s okay to adjust my own rules, standards, expectations, etc. This article is a great example of my growth in adjusting, it’s late but I accepted the circumstances and adjusted accordingly. Speaking of growth…

Growth.

Not only have you grown leaps and bounds during your first year of life but so have I, in ways that I can’t even begin to articulate.

Healing.

Your arrival revealed some hidden issues that needed to be addressed. It was necessary to address them so that I could be the best version of myself and raise you to be the best version of yourself. I wanted and needed to be healed because I know that hurt people hurt people and I don’t want to inflict unnecessary pain as a result of old, unhealed wounds.

Solomon Adaiah Josef, you are an amazing person already. You embody love and you bring so much joy and peace to all that you encounter. I am so grateful that God chose me to be your Mommy and I am so excited to see all of the great things that you will do!
